The before-and-after below is the kitchen from a beech floor we transformed in Gipsy Hill: washed-out and tired on the left, rich even brown on the right (the living room from the same job is at the top of this page). Beech is the timber most sanding firms refuse to stain because it blotches in unpractised hands. This one didn't.
