Why Commercial Clients Choose Us

The Work Is On This Website, Not In a Brochure

Commercial wood floors take a hiding: hundreds of feet a day, furniture dragged, spills trodden in. Bringing one back isn't a bigger version of a living room job, it's a different discipline: harder-wearing finishes, tighter timescales, and work that has to happen while the business doesn't.

  • Real commercial jobs you can read about on this site: the hall at Emanuel School in Battersea, The Bread and Roses pub in Clapham, and an office herringbone in Kensington
  • Out-of-hours as standard: evenings, weekends, school holidays and closed days, scheduled in writing around your trading
  • Industrial dust extraction on every machine, so the space is ready for use when we hand it back, not ready for a clean
  • Commercial-grade lacquers and oils specified for footfall, not just looks, and proven with a test patch before we commit
  • Family-run, with 22 years' hands-on experience, same hands on every job

Recent Commercial Work

Three Jobs, All On This Site

Emanuel School, Battersea: the full hall, sanded and refinished to schedule. Read the write-up.

The Bread and Roses, Clapham: a working pub floor revived with a deep clean, buff and re-oil, no sanding needed. The full story.

Kensington office: the before and after alongside, a paint-spattered herringbone brought back to a floor worth showing clients. See the Kensington page.

We don't publish invented case studies. If it's on the site, we sanded it.

What We Do For Businesses

Commercial Wood Floor Services

School Halls & Classrooms

Assembly halls, gyms, studios and classroom floors sanded and resealed in the holidays, planned backwards from the day term starts. Our Emanuel School job in Battersea is written up on the blog with photos: a working example of a big floor done to schedule. Tell us your term dates early; holiday weeks book out first.

Pubs, Bars & Restaurants

Hospitality floors soak up more punishment in a weekend than most homes see in a year. Sometimes the answer is a full sand; often it's smarter maintenance, a deep clean, buff and fresh oil, which is exactly how we revived The Bread and Roses in Clapham without closing it down. We'll tell you honestly which your floor needs.

Offices, Studios & Showrooms

Herringbone boardrooms, warehouse conversions, gallery and showroom floors, refinished over weekends so Monday opens on a floor that looks like the fit-out just happened. The gleaming office parquet on our Kensington page went from paint-spattered to showpiece exactly this way.

Halls, Churches & Community Spaces

Village halls, church floors and clubhouses: floors with decades of service and plenty more to give. We repair with reclaimed timber where boards have failed, sand with full dust extraction, and specify finishes that stand up to chairs, heels and hall-hire weekends.

Maintenance Programmes

The cheapest commercial floor is the one you never let get bad. A planned buff and re-coat every year or two costs a fraction of a full restoration and keeps the floor trading-smart permanently. We'll put your floor on a sensible cycle and remind you when it's due, and you can read why not every floor needs a full sand.

Straight Answers

Commercial Questions, Answered

Can you work outside our opening hours?
That's how most of our commercial work runs. Evenings, weekends, school holidays, or a closed Monday for a pub: we plan the job around your trading hours, not ours, and agree the schedule in writing before we start. The aim is that your customers or pupils never see a sander.
How quickly can a pub or restaurant floor be turned around?
It depends what the floor needs, and we'll tell you straight after one look. A maintenance revive, deep clean, buff and a fresh coat of oil, is the fast option and how we handled The Bread and Roses in Clapham. A full sand and refinish takes longer because finishes need curing time between coats. Either way you get real dates and drying times up front, so you know exactly when you can open the doors.
Do you fit carpet tiles, vinyl or other commercial flooring?
No. We're wood floor specialists and we stay in our lane: sanding, restoring, refinishing and fitting timber floors. If your project needs carpet tiles or vinyl as well, we're happy to work alongside whichever contractor handles those.
What about dust in a school or food environment?
Every machine we run is connected to industrial dust extraction, so airborne dust is minimal, and we sheet, mask and clean down daily as standard. For kitchens, serveries and classrooms we agree the containment plan with you beforehand, and we leave the space ready for use, not ready for a deep clean.
Can you do the work in the school holidays?
Yes, and we'd encourage booking early for it. Half terms and the summer break are when hall and classroom floors get done, and those weeks fill up first. Tell us your term dates and we'll build the schedule backwards from the day the caretaker needs the hall back.
Are you insured for commercial premises?
Yes, we carry full public liability insurance and we're happy to provide documentation for your facilities or management team before work starts. Same family firm on every job: Howard Naish Wooden Floors Ltd, and the reviews are public on Google and Checkatrade.
